What UPSS management is required?

Management requirements will differ between disused underground petroleum storage systems (UPSS), operational older systems and new installations. Depending on the status of the UPSS and the applicable legislation, the person responsible for the UPSS (usually the owner or operator) is typically required to implement systems for monitoring UPSS leaks, record keeping for UPSS alterations and leaks, perform groundwater assessment works including installation of groundwater bores at sensitive locations and develop Environment Protection Plans.
